FAQs

Do I need a lawyer to get a divorce in Australia?

No. You can apply without a lawyer. Divorce Assist provides one-on-one support with the administrative and procedural requirements. However, if your matter is complex we do recommend you seek legal advise.

What areas do you service?

We assist individuals across all Australian states and territories, except Western Australia. We work with clients remotely via phone, email and Zoom.

Do you represent me in Court?

No. Most applications don’t require a court appearance. If a hearing is needed, we’ll guide you through what to expect, but we don’t attend court or provide legal representation.

How much does it cost?

Our fees vary depending on the service you need. Some are fixed prices while others depend on factors such as complexity. You’ll receive a clear quote after your initial consultation, with no hidden costs. Court filing fees are paid directly to the court and are not included in our service fees.

How much are the Court’s filing fees?

The Court filing fee is $1170 or $390 if you hold a valid concession card. This fee is paid directly to the Court during the application process.

Can Divorce Assist help if I’ve already started the application?

Yes, if you’ve already begun the process and need help correcting, completing or submitting your application, we can step in at any stage and support you.

Do you assist with parenting or property matters?

No, we only assist with divorce applications. If you need assistance with parenting, property or spousal maintenance matters, we recommend seeking independent legal advise from a family lawyer.
